Why it exists
Documents were made to be read. That does not mean they have to be read only with your eyes.

Those formats work well when you are sitting in front of a screen, but they are not always the most comfortable way to absorb information for long periods of time.

Built with separation in mind
Your documents stay with the Reader — narration happens on your computer.
ReadThisAloud generates standard Natural Voice narration on the Windows computer, so customers do not need a separate cloud speech account, region, subscription key, or speech-service credential to create narration.
ReadThisAloud.com is used for account access, licensing, authorized devices, subscriptions, downloads, and character-usage metering. Narration document text is not sent to the website for speech synthesis.
This structure also allows licensing, device validation, usage controls, and future service updates to be managed centrally without exposing infrastructure credentials inside the desktop application.
